Simon Howie Butchers
Simon Howie Butchers is a fourth-generation family business with one of its two gleaming, hyper-styled shops in Auchterarder (the other in Perth). While the shop, a former Butcher Shop of the Year and a Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year winner, may be far removed from the sawdust-strewn butchers of yore, their produce and legacy are no less traditional. The counter offers an impressive selection of Scotch meat and locally sourced poultry and game, alongside their own hand-cured bacon. Both traditional and more innovative flavour combinations can be found in their sausage and burger range with the pork, bacon and black pudding burger popular locally. Their own ‘wee black pudding’ sits proudly alongside that of Charles MacLeod’s of Stornoway with both a traditional and vegetarian haggis completing a perfect pudding line up. Look out too for their big breakfast deal (various sausages, black pudding, bacon and eggs from local Gloagburn Farm).
