Atholl Road’s Auld Smiddy Inn was once, as its name suggests, Pitlochry’s old blacksmith’s forge. Now the whitewashed restaurant tempts in Highland travellers with lunch and dinner menus of contemporary Scots classics such as game terrine with red onion marmalade, beer battered haggis with wholegrain mustard cream, West Coast scallops, char-grilled Angus sirloin with melted Dunsyre blue cheese, poached pears and Scottish cheese platters. The Auld Smiddy also places seasonal seafood on its specials board, and hosts biannual seafood weekends, with other themed food nights detailed on its website.
