Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2017/18 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Debunking the myth that the number 13 is unlucky, Lucky Liquor select 13 bottles, create 13 cocktails and serve each menu for – you guessed it – 13 weeks. Forget superstition and let the glowing red 'Liquor' sign lure you in; you're in for a good time. There's a boldness about this place which reaches beyond the chessboard flooring. Sassy mixologists clearly know a thing or two about tipples but the drinks themselves? An ambitious Peashooter showcases flavours of sugar snap peas, fennel and celery finished off with a paprika rim, while pickled carrot cordial or pine needle soda are just some of the unusual ingredients found elsewhere. Impressively, most concoctions feature a Lucky homemade liqueur, the likes of tonka bean, sassafras or more familiarly, banana and coconut. These, alongside a list of carefully selected wines and spirits make up the off-licence drinks list, perfect for consumption in a quieter setting at home. Of course, those preferring the buzz of a pulsating vinyl playlist must be prepared to stand but – if you're really lucky – you’ll get dibs on the pool table downstairs.
