The numerous awards on display as you walk in tell you that this is more than just an average butcher. Sausages and steak pies of the highest order are made here, alongside haggis, black pudding, fruit pudding, burgers and meatloaf. The pork, leek and apricot sausages are a firm favourite, but owner Jim Preston reckons it's still the steak pie that is his biggest seller. In the summer they also do barbecue meats, and a freezer at the back has in-house ready meals for sale as well. Local sourcing coupled with a neighbourly welcome in the shop has seen Preston's gather regulars from miles around. And understandably so.
