Following a successful opening in Waterloo, the latest Bangalore can be found in the City, opposite Leadenhall Market. It epitomises the fresh and funky attitude of the South Indian city after which it is named, offering a range of light and delicious fare that's wonderfully wholesome.
Contemporary and exciting, this smart, open-plan venue spreads over two floors yet maintains a feeling of intimacy throughout. The ground floor has a lively bar perfect for after-work drinks and bites, whilst the downstairs restaurant is a personal setting suitable for friends, couples or business people. Stretch out in the intimacy of the booths and take time to appreciate the modern sheen of the decor; it's a look that sets this restaurant apart from many of its Indian contemporaries.
The menu is innovative, informal and flexible; whether you're part of a large group or just enjoying your own company, there will be something to suit. Why not try the lamb meatballs in tempered mint yoghurt, or chicken tikka supreme marinated in sweet red chillies and roasted in the tandoor? All the dishes at Bangalore are aesthetically stunning and, needless to say, delicious. Prices are very reasonable, the service faultless and the facilities fantastic.
While the menu is prepared by award winning chef Yogesh Datta, usually synonymous with upmarket and fine-dining Indian cuisine, it offers good value and has a strong following from a young, trendy clientele.
