With a history that stretches back over 40 years, Frosoulla’s is a justifiably popular mainstay for Greek cuisine in the Southside.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
A Kyriacou family restaurant has been operating on one side or the other of Sinclair Drive since 1972, so their brand of robust, high quality Greek-Cypriot cuisine is no secret. Kleftiko earns its title as house speciality; prepared to the recipe that owner-chef Frosoulla’s mother Maria perfected 45 years ago – the lamb is moist and tender, falling off the bone when gently forked; no adornment is needed other than its herb-infused juices. Barrel-aged and delicately flavoured feta elevates the salad accompaniment beyond a garnish; roasties, rice or chips fill what little space is left on the plate. Ingredients are locally sourced and this attention extends to efficient and warm service that leaves just enough time between courses that a meal feels an event. Standards are bolstered by less familiar dishes such as seafood saganaki to create a menu that’s authentic, well thought-out and appealing. Heritage lends a strong sense of community – this is a venue for family celebrations as well as casual dining, and although the black marble and mirrors aren’t exactly homely, the atmosphere certainly feels it.
