Melvich Hotel has been a favourite with sportsmen since the Victorian times, being a stone’s throw from excellent salmon fishing on the Halladale River. Since changing hands in 2007, the hotel has been refurbished, taking the lead from the beautiful surroundings of sand, sea, heather and peat. With an enviable view overlooking Melvich Bay, the Pentland Firth and the hotel’s own gardens, the restaurant offers a six-course set dinner menu, dependent upon what’s in season, and uses local produce to showcase the best of Highland meat, game and seafood. As well as supporting local suppliers, the hotel has its own polytunnel to grow salad vegetables and herbs in a noble bid to reduce food miles.
