Robert Lindsay (known as BrewBob) has long had a name as a beer aficionado - the 170 bottles and beer-matched menu he offers in his Marine Hotel in Stonehaven are proof of this, and also demonstrate his particular interest in Belgian beers. Though born and bred in Stonehaven, he learnt to brew in Belgium, and his brand new brewery (six degrees north of Brussels) is devoted to Belgian-style beers, with the first kegs being filled in April 2013. The brewery team is made up of BrewBob, Michael 'Wally' Stockinger and Brendon 'Chopper' Dennet, and their beers cover the whole spectrum, usually with giveaway names: Jozef Blonde, Wanderlust Wheat, Four Saisons, Hop Classic (a Belgian IPA), Beyond Pale (another blonde), Chopper Stout, Scotch, Jiang Shi (Belgian double IPA), and Snowy, a seasonally spiced Christmas beer. All are unfiltered and bottle conditioned, giving natural carbonation through secondary fermentation. As if this weren't enough, a linked six°north craft beer bar opened in Aberdeen (6 Littlejohn Street) in June 2013 to showcase them all.
