Overlooking Stonehaven harbour, The Marine Hotel runs a popular bar and restaurant. As well as the locally sourced food, a major draw is the emphasis owner Robert Lindsay (or BrewBob, as he goes by) puts on beer, particularly Belgian. With over 170 different bottles to choose from, it's probably a good idea that he suggests pairings with every dish, or choosing could be a long process. The menu changes every four months, other than certain long-time favourite dishes, and specialises in game and seafood, with the likes of wood pigeon and Barbary duck, rabbit and a separate list of fish mains. A coeliac version of the menu is also on offer, with gluten-free bread on request. In spring 2013, Lindsay upped the beer stakes even further by establishing six°north, his own Belgian-style brewery, and later that year a bar of the same name in Aberdeen.
The Marine Hotel is in a fantastic location right on the harbour with stunning views. Choose to dine in the Lounge Bar with its open fire or the more formal first floor restaurant. Specialising in locally sourced game and seafood, the daily specials board showcases the catch of the day from Aberdeen and Gourdon. A good selection of real ales is complemented by over 130 bottled Belgian beers, and every dish on the menu is matched to a beer. The harbourside location is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny summer’s evening watching the world go by.
