From a modern creamery converted from a former milking shed, Bellevue Creamery produces Arran Blue, a pasturised, semi-soft blue cheese similar to the French ‘Bleu de Auvern’ and Silver Medal winner at the 2006 British Cheese Awards. In the heart of Arran's dairy land, the Creamery also makes Arran Mist, a smooth, creamy Scottish brie, and crowdie - all from the milk of Arran cows. It's not open to the public, but Bellevue's cheeses are available at the Island Cheese Shop in Brodick. Cheese Shop owner Gordon Kinniburgh bought Bellevue Creamery in 2004, and it runs alongside Arran Cheese, known for waxed cheddars. Bellevue cheeses are also available through Taste of Arran, the producers' group that represents eleven artisan producers on the island, and from a number of farmers' markets on the east and west coasts - see the Island Cheese Shop website for more details.
