Moffat Toffee Shop
For well over 100 years, the same family have been making toffee to a secret recipe first conceived by Janet Johnstone and supplied to an early Arctic exhibition for energy. The premises on Holm Street were then known as the Celebrated Toffee Shop, passing down through Janet’s daughter to her son, and on to the current owner, Blair Blacklock. The toffee is now made in a modern factory, and the shop has moved to the High Street, but confectionery is still celebrated with over 1000 different sweets in stock. Much of this is their own range, including Moffat whoppers, bonfire toffee, Coulters candy, puff candy, tablet (in four flavours), 16 flavours of fudge and 12 of truffles.
