Located at over 1050 feet, Dalwhinnie is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland, and produces a whisky known by some as the 'lady's dram', or the 'gentle spirit'. The cold, northerly climate and the snow-fed waters of the Allt an t`Sluic burn produce a paradoxically warming, heather honeyed single malt. Owned by Diageo, two large stills produce in the region of two million litres of spirit annually, with 90% of this heading into Buchanan’s blends, including Black & White. The rest goes into single malts marketed under Diageo's Classic Malts brand, with the distillery's standard bottle being an unusually aged 15-year-old expression. This is supplemented by the 18-year-old sherry casked Distillers Edition.
