Lets Eat Local
Not open to the public.
Based on the Growing Communities project, a social enterprise based in Hackney, East London, where a community-led box scheme has been running for over 10 years, this Moffat-based project offers various sizes of boxes and bags with fresh, seasonal fruit and veg sourced from sustainable, certified producers. Bags can be collected from pick-up points on Thursdays and Fridays, with discounts available for pensioners and volunteers with the scheme, while the project also accepts Healthy Start vouchers. Bags start from around £6.50 per week.
Weekly bags of delicious fruit and veg from as little as £6.50 a week. We also sell locally produced eggs and honey and certified wholefoods.
Certified produce is sourced from small farms and growers, or ethical producers as locally as possible and distributed through pick-up points in Moffat and Dumfries. Pick-up points coming to other areas soon.
Profits from the scheme are reinvested in developing and strengthening the local food system.
Lets Eat Local is part of the Growing Communities Start-up Programme which is transforming the food system by helping people set up local, sustainable vegetable box schemes across the country.
The scheme won a Green Apple award after just one year of operation, in recognition of its work to relocalise the food economy in rural Dumfries and Galloway.
