Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

The theme of the current incarnation of this style bar is literally plastered over the walls with eye-catching monochrome wallpaper featuring New York landmarks. The space is dominated by a huge curved bar and an open floor which suggests evening revelry rather than daytime dining. The cocktail menu fits the billing perfectly with a range of creations based on the Big Apple’s five boroughs, and there are a few American beers along with mainstream brews. For those in the mood for food, there’s a decent menu riffing off popular New York dishes so it’s all packed burgers, hot dogs and bagels, while a lunchtime menu offers great value.

  • High point: Great range of cocktails
  • Low point: Not many tables in main area
  • Average price: £9 (lunch); £9 (dinner)

NYC Bar & Grill has fast become a staple of the Glasgow food scene serving up authentic burgers & dogs since 2012. Offering an extensive cocktail and craft selection to accompany their simple yet delicious menu and fantastic customer service.

Inside you will find an industrial look reminiscent of the Meatpacking district of NYC with visible brickwork and reclaimed wood, illuminated with neon lights. Helping create the laid back atmosphere you will hear funk, soul and original hip hop with the exception of Tuesdays, where classic rock will be the soundtrack to the extremely popular Tuesday Night Wing Night. Every Tuesday you can devour their famous chickens at a cost of £2 per portions of 10, with 10 different glorious flavours to choose from. This is the perfect venue for catching up with cocktails, pre-gig scrans and catching big sporting events.

NYC was recently voted #20 on Big 7 Travels Top 50 Places in Europe to eat chicken wings list.
