A butchers with a difference, these counters are dedicated to the rare breed pork, lamb and beef from the owners' farm, Nethergate, as well as Duncan Lyon's rose veal from Bute. Owner Arlene also makes the steak pies and pasties on sale, using meat from her animals and veal. All Nethergate Farm's pigs, sheep and cattle are traditional, hardy Scottish breeds, grazing outdoors all year on grass. A small, well-chosen range of Scottish cheese is also on offer, including Humphry Errington's Lanark Blue, and his daughter Selina Cairns' Cora Linn.
This shop has all the charm of a rustic French delicatessen, with counters dedicated to rare breed pork, lamb and beef from the owners' farm, Nethergate in nearby Dunlop. Alongside the top quality meats, there's steak pies, pork pies, sausages and bacon, all made with Nethergate meat by owner, Arlene McKenzie to an exacting standard. Although all the meat is prepacked for sale, the owners will happily supply orders to customer requirements. There's also a selection of Scottish cheese, local eggs, honey and rapeseed oil along with a range of pottery and tableware.
