A short ferry trip from Mull, The Boathouse is a licensed tearoom specialising in seafood. Owners Emma McKie and Rebecca Munro have made a virtue of being undeniably far-flung, serving up whatever comes in from Emma's brother's Tobermory-based fishing boat, as well as other local seafood. These could be Ulva Soriby Bay oysters, grown and harvested on the island, freshly caught prawns, monkfish or their own marinated salmon - or the whole lot at once, if you go for the seafood platter. For those not in need of a sustaining meal, they serve their own home-baking and lighter snacks. Based in an old ferryman's house, the shore-side location could hardly be more idyllic.
