Moira and Dougall Simpson started making ice-cream in 1995 from the back of their shop, the Ice Cream Cabin, in Buckie. Reaching the limits of expansion in late 2011, they moved into a purpose-built factory where the ice-cream is still made by hand and they concentrate their efforts on wholesale ice cream, sorbet and frozen yoghurt production. They make own-label whisky ice-creams for a number of local distilleries, including Macallan, as well as a dairy-free ice suitable for lactose intolerants, diabetics, vegetarians and vegans.
