Coffee is king at Brew Lab, but the chilled atmosphere and artisan produce offer much more than just a caffeine hit

Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

Whether it’s a cosy armchair beside the window or a bench shared with strangers, Brew Lab offers something for the thoughtful, the gregarious and the serious coffee fan. Breakfast spans everything from fresh fruit to toast and jam, while lunch brings sandwiches from Gannet & Guga to satisfy vegetarians, vegans and carnivores – a feta, tzatziki, spiced courgette and sun-dried tomato baguette should ward off hunger pangs in style – as well as soups and salads from Union of Genius and cakes from Grace & Co. With later opening introduced in 2017, the early evening menu includes quiche and scotch eggs. Tea, trendy soft drinks, beer from Pilot and a couple of natural wines will quench all thirsts, but coffee, of course, steals the show with four varieties – complete with tasting notes – while true caffeine heads can book in at the training lab to learn the intricacies of the barista’s skill.
