Good things come in small packages – and this compact sushi bar in Finnieston is a prime example.
Painted an unassuming shade of grey with a white neon sign, Cailin’s Sushi is a small Japanese eatery in the heart of Finnieston, with a bustling takeaway and delivery business and couple of small tables for those who wish to dine in. The chicken dumplings and edamame beans are two good choices of starters which also include seaweed salad and octopus fish cakes. The rest of the menu offers a lot of options, particularly for sushi, ranging from hosomaki (sushi roll with vegetable or fish) to nigari and gunkan with various toppings including sea bass, tofu and omelette. The donburi rice bowl with vegetables and tofu is filling and wholesome, and very reasonably priced, as is the beautifully presented chicken udon. Try a Bin Ramune with your meal, essentially Japanese lemonade in a much fancier bottle, which takes a bit of thought and dexterity to open. Cailin’s also do a great selection of platters from 38-64 pieces and can cater for a variety of parties and functions at home and work.
