The brewmeisters are John McKenzie and Lewis Shand, who, inspired by Lewis’s grandfather, have been homebrewing since they were 16. Commercial brewing commenced in February 2012, and their first beers, Deeside Pale Ale, amber Lochnagar Spray and Brewmeister Blonde, were joined by the headline-hitting 'world's strongest beer', freeze-distilled Armageddon which was said to come in at 65% abv - though this has since been disproved, and the beer superseded by Snake Venom, with a not-uncontroversially advertised abv of 67.5%.
