Located at Deanshaugh Farm between Dunkeld and Perth is Strathbraan, one of Scotland’s newest microbreweries. Having started brewing in 2012, Mark Procter, aided by his father Martin, currently produces three beers: a classic pale ale, Due South; a traditional-type bitter, Head East; and Look West, a single-hop blonde. A fourth, True North, is loosely planned for early 2014. Having initially focused on supplying Perthshire pubs (the Taybank Inn in Dunkeld and Old Mill in Pitlochry are two that regularly have their beers on tap), they’re now starting to establish themselves further afield, including a number of guest rotations in Edinburgh. They have also started to bottle the Head East on site in small batches, and it’s now available in stores including Drinkmonger and the Scottish Deli.
