Almost a nano-brewery rather than a micro-brewery, Stuart McLuckie operates from a one-barrel plant near Glenrothes. This isn’t a downside for him, as his focus is on small batches, exacting ingredients and historic recipes. Edinburgh 68/- is just one of these, made to a recipe last used in 1885, as is his Export Stout, based on an 1897 Younger’s recipe. Production started in 2008, and since then he has garnered a eulogising following, who will fight you to the few outlets that get their hands on his necessarily limited output. The Hanging Bat pub, on Edinburgh's Lothian Road, is the only venue in Edinburgh to have Luckie beer on cask.
