Frankie's Fish & Chip Cafe and Takeaway
This extremely north-reaching chip and fish shop in the village of Brae only serves sustainable and local seafood. Their mussels and scallops are grown by Scotland's shellfish producers Blueshell Mussels who are MSC-accredited and farm in the area. The haddock is caught by Blydoit, and Frankie's make a point of putting up posters of the exact boat used for their daily catch. These efforts towards responsible fishing have not gone unnoticed, being awarded the best fish and chip shop in Scotland by the National Fish and Chip Awards in 2014 and runner-up in the whole of the UK. Haddock suppers are served in two sizes: muckle (large) and peerie (small). For non-fish eaters there are plenty of other dishes to choose from including lasagna, burgers and baked potatoes as well as a full breakfast menu served until 11.30am. In the summer, outdoor dining extends out onto the terrace for even better views over Busta Voe Bay.
Crowned No 1 fish & chip shop in the UK 2015. Serving local and sustainable seafood including MSC haddock, mussels, scallops and brown crab. Mussels are rope-grown by Blueshell Mussels who are MSC accredited and farm in the area. Frankie's make a point of putting up posters of the exact boat used for their daily catch. There is outside seating and lovely sea views over Busta Voe. A gluten-free menu is available, as well as a senior citizens menu and children are also catered for. Open until 8pm seven days a week.
