Glebe House Winery
Not open to the public.
Established circa 2001, the Ross family winery began making their fruit wines in demijohns. These have now been replaced by larger fermentation vessels, but their wines, made from locally gathered berries, blossoms, fruits, leaves and even silver birch tree sap are still produced on a relatively small scale. Every batch of wine matures for around 18 months, and is tasted and approved by the family before it is sold. Most of the fruit - rhubarb, gooseberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, apples and pears - is home-grown, free from chemicals, at Glebe House and harvested seasonally. The wine list includes red, white and sparkling wines, and can be found at local farmers' markets: Dumfries, Moffat and Lockerbie. Tours of the winery can be made, by appointment only.
