Smack bang at Tyndrum junction, The Green Welly Stop market themselves as 'the perfect spot for a halfway stop', and are packed with useful pitstop and leg stretching facilities - there are even showers and a foreign exchange. First on the food front is the Snack Stop Cafe, offering hot and cold snacks of the soup, bacon roll and popular savoury pastry and pizza variety from 7am–9pm (November–March 4–9pm) every day. Everything is made on site, right down to the garlic oil and tomato sauce on their pizza. This is also true in their self-service restaurant, which has banned fried food from the menu, instead serving Cullen skink, rich with Mallaig peat smoked haddock, alongside other hearty, walker-friendly options: pasta, leek & potato bake and lots of traditional baking, including clootie dumpling. On weekends they can have thousands of bikers pass through, and have allocated parking appropriately. Useful for bikers, drivers and general holidaymakers, the filling station complex sells car equipment, lots of outdoor and camping kit, toys and games to keep kids occupied, and gifts. Also handy for a relaxing break is the off-licence, selling a good selection of whisky, wine and beer, including artisan Scottish brands such as Strathearn Distillery's gins, Highland Wineries' cherry brandy and Scottish beers. They also have an online shop with an even bigger selection of spirits. Safe to say this is a more enjoyable journey break than your average service-station.
