Kilnford's motto is 'know the farmer, know your food', and they do their best to make introductions at their well-equipped, well-stocked farm shop, deli and café. A nature trail gets visitors up close to the farm's livestock of traditional, photogenic Galloway Belties, Blackface sheep and outdoor-reared pigs, and a deli and butchery counter showcases the meat. It's hung and butchered on site, so can be cut to requirement. The display, so long it snakes from one end of the converted barn to the other, merges into a deli counter stocked with cheeses, baking and anti-pasti, and a large grocery section highlights local jams, biscuits, fruit and vegetables, as well as whole and dietary foods. Across the courtyard is the canteen-style café in a restored steading, serving home-baking and food made on site using the farm and deli's produce. In summer it opens onto a spacious sun-terrace and children's play area.
