Founded as a family business in 2011, sea water is taken from the shores of Loch Erisort on the east coast of Lewis, A-graded for cleanliness. This is then filtered before the salt and minerals are extracted into a brine, which is gently heated to to grow white flakes of sea salt. These are hand-harvested before being washed in brine to give them a shine, and dried in ovens before being hand-packaged. No anti-caking agents are used, and the salt currently comes in original, with peat-smoked and seaweed versions being launched in mid-2013. It's now stocked in delis, farm and food shops across the UK, and sold online.
