A small scale cheese-maker, Barwheys make no more than forty-five truckles of cheese each week at their eco-friendly dairy in Maybole in Ayrshire. Their launch product, Barwheys, came out in September 2011 and is a hard cheese made from the unpasteurised milk of their Ayrshire herd, occasionally sold smoked. A small quantity of follow-up cheese Barwheys Beastie premiered in November 2012, having been matured for 24 months - it was promptly bought in bulk by a cheesemonger. Stockists include Dowhills Country Fayre near Girvan, IJ Mellis in Glasgow, The Scottish Deli in Pitlochry, Perth's Provender Brown and Jane's Delicatessen in Maybole.
