An Edinburgh institution which continues to serve interesting and well-executed Indian dishes nearly 60 years after first opening its doors.
Khushi's is an Edinburgh institution as far as curry goes, with the first restaurant opening its doors back in 1947. Now located on Antigua Street, just a stone's throw away from the Playhouse, it remains a popular and reliable source of Indian dishes with a menu of classics featuring the odd twist. The triple platter starter provides the opportunity to sample the aloo and channa chat, chicken pakora and chilli squid, preparing your taste buds for the medley of spices and flavours that emanate from the tandoor dishes or the many rich and fragrant curries. The dhal tarka, chana masala or paneer makhani all make fine side dishes alongside meaty favourites such as the old-school lamb curry, Punjabi gosht or seafood moilee, which are fresh and aromatic in equal measure. Washed down with one of their many mocktails or a standard lassi, a meal at Khushi's is satisfying but never mundane.
