Popular Leith Walk Italian decked out with rustic-chic furnishings, where they really know their pizza.
This Leith Walk success story is likely to be buzzing any of night of the week. Origano’s boho-chic cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, top-notch pizza and reasonable pricing has well and truly won over the locals. Thankfully Simon Fletcher and chef Dominik Blicharski resisted the temptation to upscale the simple but winning menu when they moved the restaurant across the road into bigger premises a few years back. Start with the unmissable antipasti board, either vegetarian or cured meat, which come with generous portions of Origano-made bread, dips and maybe a wee slice of beautifully garlicky bruschetta. There’s a meat or veg lasagne if you’re not after pizza, but the vegetarian version disappoints in comparison to the wonderful pizza. Thinly rolled, it’s crisped up on the stone-based wood-fired pizza oven and scattered with lightly cooked crunchy peppers, mushrooms, olives and a dash of fresh parsley. With pizzas coming at a variety of sizes to match appetites, it’s unlikely you’ll leave room for dessert – if you do, go for the generous, creamy tiramisu.
A small and friendly authentic pizzeria offering fantastic freshly made pizza, pasta and antipasto sharing platters. All of our bread and dough is made fresh straight from our kitchen. The fresh tiramisu is a must!
