Originally leased to Oddbins, Quel Vin's owners (in Kelvinbridge, geddit?) saved it from closure when Oddbins folded, asking the staff to stay on and continue to run the shop for them. Now they have the freedom to stock what they believe in, as well as sourcing wines on request. There's a good stock of beers, including Williams Bros, Fallen, Kernal and Fyne Ales, as well as craft gins and interesting spirits.
Now well established as a quality outlet, after spells as previous off-licencers Oddbins and Quel Vin, Valhalla's Goat is the place to go for quality drinks and that rare or unusual find. Owned by the Williams Bros – of brewing fame and owners of nearby Inn Deep – this is a place that oozes with booze knowledge and enthusiasm. There's a good stock of beers, including Six Degrees North, Fallen, Kernal and Fyne Ales, as well as craft gins and interesting spirits. The range of Scottish gins is hard to match, with rarities such as Eden Mill gin backing up classics such The Botanist from Islay and Caorunn form the Cairngorms.
