Traditional pub in the south side area of Morningside

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
A traditional pub in the heart of Morningside, Bennets offers a decent range of beers, real ales and wines, as well as simple but hearty pub grub including soup, toasties and scampi and chips. Inside it’s old-fashioned but cosy with lots of wood, brass, vintage signs and old glass windows; a refreshing change if you’ve had enough of bare bulbs, concrete and bartenders in braces. There is decent coffee, low-alcohol beers and, at the other end of the spectrum, a large selection of whiskies from across Scotland to try. An added bonus is the outdoor seating area, weather permitting.
