Opening in summer 2002 by Eric Garnier and Henry Harris, Racine is friendly, local, professional and run by patrons - one in the kitchen and one front of house. Located at 239 Brompton Road, SW3, just opposite the Brompton Oratory, and close to the museums and shops of South Kensington, Racine features classic French Bourgeois food in a charming 75 seat site. The menu showcases Henry Harris' signature style of cooking - casual, robust, seasonal and predominantly regional French. A wine list of approximately 125 bins concentrates on French, but there is also a reasonable selection of international wines.
There are two dining areas at Racine - the main front room seating up to 60, and a second room at the rear of the restaurant, which can also be hired for private parties, to seat up to 15. The interior design features dark brown leather-covered banquette seating, a dark wooden floor, long mirrors on each wall, aubergine curtains for the cloakroom and entrance, and sand-coloured window blinds.
