Situated in the leafy south-west Ayr suburb of Doonfoot, contemporary bar-restaurant the Balgarth Pines serves food from breakfast through to dinner, drawing as much as possible from the Ayrshire area for produce – be it Pollok Williamson Butchers' black pudding in the fritters or Woody’s ice-cream in many of their desserts. The dinner menu mixes Scottish, American, Mexican and steakhouse fare, from haggis, neeps and tatties to barbecue and cheese hot dogs, pan-fried honey-glazed pork chops, steak mince burgers, sizzling fajitas and chargrilled steaks. They do a range of incentive deals, from daily offers to Wednesday grill night (cheaper steaks) and a Sunday social (discounted two and three-course meals). In the Blaw Wearie Bar – so named after the 3rd hole at Turnberry Golf Course – they pour craft beers, cocktails, wines, whiskies and more.
