A bar-lounge and the more formal restaurant with views over parts of the golf course and Hill of Tarvit beyond.
Elmwood Golf Course, owned and managed by Elmwood College, provides a practical, working environment for students studying for a career in green keeping or other aspects of the golf business. The unelaborate clubhouse has two main rooms, one a bar lounge, the other a slightly more formal restaurant, both of which offer bay-window views over parts of the course and the Hill of Tarvit beyond. A comprehensive range of food throughout the day, from hot morning rolls to chowder and sandwich combos for lunch, and old favourites such as fish and chips, macaroni cheese or steak and ale pie offering a good bet for a post-round feed. It's not just for players, however, and on the Fairways restaurant menu you'll find a bit more ambition with McSween's haggis fritters, grilled salmon with pea risotto or a roast pumpkin and goat's cheese tart. Regular themed evenings take place, allowing the kitchen to get creative cooking Indian, Thai or other styles – Elmwood Fairways Facebook page will keep you up to date.
Part of Scotland's Rural College, the Elmwood Campus's golf course provides a practical, working environment for students studying for a career in the golf business, or a leisurely game for members of the public. Elmwood's clubhouse has two main areas, one a bar-lounge, the other a slightly more formal restaurant, both of which offer pleasant bay-window views over parts of the course and the Hill of Tarvit beyond. A comprehensive range of food is available from early morning, with café-bar-style offerings for breakfast, lunch and tea, with more substantial mains available, and traditional high tea offered on Sundays. The menu offers a decent-value mix of Scottish favourites, including Cullen skink, haggis fritters, salmon or macaroni cheese, and British classics from ale pie and burgers to fish and chips, with a smattering of global flavours with the likes of Mexican dishes and curries. There's an uncommonly varied selection for vegetarians, while meat-lovers should watch for their occasional steak night offers.
