In just over 10 years, the Fish Bar has become as much a part of the seafront as the harbour it overlooks. A classic fish and chip shop with a deserved reputation for excellence, traditional fish and chips is the draw here. They're as good as any you'll find and worth the wait. Despite the lengthy queue most nights, the staff are expertly organised and when it meanders out of the door and along the street, they emerge clipboard in hand taking orders. Once inside, customers can check the display noting which boat brought the catch currently in the fryers. Cosmopolitan by chip shop standards, the fish comes breaded or battered, the calamari is superb and there's a modestly priced half dressed lobster with salad. The traditional restaurant will tempt those who wish to make a meal of it but perhaps the best accompaniment is outside on nearby benches, taking in the view across to the Isle of May, while boats gently bob in their moorings.
