Fisher & Donaldson
Retail branch of the much-loved traditional bakery and chocolatiers, where the production process remains almost entirely manual.
All four shops throughout Fife – two in Cupar, two in St Andrews – retain the feel of a traditional ‘good old days’ cake shop. The enormous selection, elements of which are embedded in Fife cult legend (those fudge doughnuts), isn’t limited to cakes; the patisserie and chocolates are also handmade in the Ceres Road bakery, and Scotch pies contain nothing but pure beef flank, water and seasoning. The production process remains almost entirely manual, even down to hand-rolling oatcakes. In 2013 they introduced their 24-hour bakery to the South Street branch in St Andrews – a hot vending machine that rattles out a pie, stovies or fudge doughnut in less than a minute.
