Ten Hill Place
Hotel dining with a good cause in Edinburgh’s university district.
You could live a lifetime in Edinburgh and not come across Ten Hill Place, which is tucked down a side street in the city’s Southside. That would be a shame as the hotel and restaurant run by the Royal College of Surgeons is a very pleasant place to grab a bite to eat, especially before or after a concert at the Queens Hall. A 2018 renovation and expansion has seen it open a new modern restaurant with a creative Scottish menu. Starters range from scallops to a fresh and tasty tartare of Highland beef with toasted aioli ciabatta. Garlic lovers will enjoy an unusual and filling chicken Kiev that oozes truffle butter and comes with a flavoursome fettucini. Guinea fowl breast, nicely roasted on a bed of mixed grains and savoy cabbage, will suit smaller appetites, or there’s a good choice of steaks for traditionalists. A child-like joie de vivre suffuses the dessert menu, so leave room for the simply lovely rhubarb soufflé with a pink rose of candy floss.
Drinks & Dining at Ten Hill Place Hotel is the perfect central location for a pre-theatre dinner, an exquisite afternoon tea or a hotel dining experience that’s not like hotel dining. Our award winning chefs, Alan Dickson and Jamie Reid, like to cook with fresh, local produce and believe few places have a better natural larder than Scotland. They aim to delight with a range of much loved dishes and creative courses served in chic, yet comfortable, surroundings, tucked just out of the way of the main thoroughfares of New Town.
The bar at Drinks & Dining at Ten Hill Place is stocked with an impressive collection of exclusively Scottish gins and malts. The cocktail menu is a must for those who enjoy an aperitif before dining.
Should you be looking for a private dining experience, our exclusive space The Snug can hold up to 14 for a secluded sit-down dinner or 25 for drinks and canapés. It’s perfect for celebrations, reunions and family events.
There is one more excellent reason for choosing Ten Hill Place Hotel for your next treat - the profits we make go back into the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, helping to fund advancements in surgical care and training around the world.
