Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

Family-run Loudons in Fountainbridge serves tasty breakfast, lunch and all-day weekend brunch to the masses. The space accommodates everyone – informal business meetings, friends catching up, parents with little ones – with complimentary reads and comfy sofas up for grabs. The spacious, open-plan venue enjoys plenty of natural light through large windows with room dividers cleverly placed to break up the space. Cakes are baked in-house – take a peek at the bakers at work through the large window downstairs. Staff are attentive and smiley, the menus varied and interesting. Superfood pancakes (gluten and dairy-free) come stacked high, layered with haricot bean hummus and topped with black bean salsa, a strikingly green dish. The well-risen pancakes, golden and crispy on the outside, are aromatic with garlic, ginger and chilli. After a couple of mouthfuls, thoughts turn to the other pancake options and planning your next visit.
