Carol Wood re-opened the Chocolate Galley in 2015 after an extensive refit: the TARDIS-like premises midway down the High Street combine a shop, truffle counter, café and chocolate workshop. The first two of these offer an impressive range of chocolate products, all handmade on-site. Staple flavours range from crowd-pleasing salted butter caramel to dark mandarin and clove, and sit alongside seasonal and limited-run choices, all of which can be sold individually or packaged up as you please. The spacious café has a legion of fans for its hot chocolate (vegan option available), and funky milkshakes made from their own ice-cream. Soups and baking are made on-site, with gluten-free cakes a speciality – toasties can be free-from too. Chocolate workshop parties are held for up to 10 children or adults.
