D&A Kennedy is a traditional family butcher on Blairgowrie’s High Street, selling marbled, rich, pink Duroc pork from Arbroath, cured and smoked as their own bacon, plus cuts of beef and lamb reared on Perthshire farms, sourced at Forfar livestock market. 'Animal husbandry is everything,' swears Alan Kennedy, who also owns Alyth butcher MJ Dorward and three more in Angus, and his meat stocks two Michelin-starred restaurants: Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel and Inverlochy Castle near Fort William. D&A Kennedy sources wild, seasonal, shot game from nearby Glen Clova estates, while Pam in the Blairgowrie butcher shop bakes all their pastries and steak pies.
