Oban Chocolate Company
Chocolate shop and café specialising in truffles and moulded chocolates, with kids workshops and sea views.
A visit to the Margaret River chocolate factory in Australia was the inspiration for the Oban Chocolate Company. Established in 2003, this award-winning enterprise has become a town highlight, their open-plan shop and chic café offering views over the sea as you sample their produce in comfort. They specialise in handmade truffles and moulded chocolates in over 50 flavours, from pear William to Marmite; chocolatiers are encouraged to invent and develop their own recipes. These, plus bars, confectionery, pâte de fruits and gifts are sold online, where you’ll also find examples of the celebration cakes they are known for. A viewing window allows you to watch the chocolatiers at work - if that makes little fingers itch to have a go, kids workshops are run through school holidays. In the child-friendly café, sugar reigns supreme: tuck up with an ice-cream float, handmade chocolate-coated marshmallow lolly, fresh waffle or increasingly famous chocolate fondue platter.
