Farm Shop & Cafe At The Mart
Knowes farm shop is a friendly wee place run, since October 2012, by Ian Baird and Tommy Dale. Fruit and veg from Knowes Farm itself is the mainstay, grown by the Cochrans who live on the farm and who ran the shop for years. The eggs on sale are laid by free-range hens that you can feed when you visit. Meats and cheeses are brought in from nearby, and there's also a range of preserves, pates and desserts. The 'sun and dung' vegetables aren't certified organic, but they are grown with care and without pesticides - pick your own was introduced in 2012. Baird and Dale first worked together to sell the lobster and crab that Dale's father lands at North Berwick, so seafood now features more prominently at the shop.
Farm Shop & Cafe At The Mart (aka Knowes Farm Shop) is a Farm Shop, Cafe, Market Place and Art/Craft Exhibition Space now located, on the main entrance to the conservation village of East Linton, in the historic East Linton Saleground behind the East Linton Auction Mart building. We're just behind the Auction Mart building. We sell a wide range of everyday and specialty products, like eggs, milk, cheeses, meats, fruit & vegetables - where possible these are sourced or produced primarily from local producers or within Scotland. We are natural/organic and vegan friendly, and consider (wherever possible) allergies in our product ranges. We are environmentally conscious and currently stock a very wide range of ecover household products which can be purchased either off the shelf or as refills. Our cafe serves food prepared on the premises and we have just started baking bread instore. We also now operate a Post Office 7 days a week.
