The Parlour Café
The Parlour Café is always popular, as you can tell by the steamed up windows when you walk past. A tiny whitewashed rough brick place with only half a dozen small tables, it is nonchalantly trendy, and is extremely popular with the uni’s cooler students, either for one of their excellent teas or coffees or for something more substantial from their healthy range of toasties and speciality sandwiches. There is a leaning towards quality veggie fare, and they have a great choice of home baked sweetie bites as well a host of other tasty treats from their sister deli a few doors down the road.
The Parlour was at the forefront of Dundee's recent culinary renaissance, offering inventive takes on standard menu items and giving vegetarians more than just a cursory nod. Lunchtime favourites such as sandwiches, salads, soups and tarts are seasonal and fresh, with the takeaway aspect of the cafe bringing something special to city-centre office desks. There is a spot of indulgence, however, with an array of cakes beckoning from under their cloches.
