Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2018/19 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £7.95 (+p&p).

This bright space is all clean white lines framed by one of the most agreeable dining views in Edinburgh. Service is prompt and the atmosphere relaxed in a polite and refined sort of way. Breakfast makes way for à la carte and set menus at noon, running into the evening well after the shoppers have departed. The food walks a simple path through contemporary Scottish with occasional international flourishes, with plenty of fish and vegetarian options. Creamed mushrooms on a pillow-soft brioche and mozzarella and tomato arancini sit under a tangle of rocket. Pan-fried sea bream comes with crushed potatoes, bacon and leek while a braised shoulder of lamb is balanced with lemon couscous, feta and pomegranate. Steak and salad sections complete the range. Throw in a lengthy wine and cocktail selection and this adds up to a thoroughly pleasant place to refuel while you shop.
