Small pub near Haymarket with a big drinks selection and selection of sharing platters.

The 2019/20 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).
Monty’s (formerly Carters Tap) is a decent wee bar which still manages to have a locals feel about it, despite its proximity to Haymarket and the airport tram. A few regulars prop up the bar while the barman climbs up and down a ladder to get to the 60 whiskies and good range of local spirits housed on towering shelves. There are cosy tables tucked away and a more open-plan upper level too. The food is sharing platters and toasties, with an appealing offer of a sharing platter (cheese, charcuterie or mixed) with a bottle of house wine. With eight keg lines, six cask lines plus more bottled beers and ciders, you’re bound to find something to hit the spot.
