Best Western Kinloch Hotel
Run by the Crawford family since 1954, the Kinloch Hotel is set beach-side, with views from the restaurant across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Mull of Kintyre. The Sound’s seafood figures prominently on the menu too, alongside Arran lamb and ice cream – though save room for pastry chef Adele McKinley’s Bailey’s cheesecake. The hotel also runs the Kinloch Bakery next door, which supplies the restaurant, and sells to the public - its history contains a few such innovations, from building one of Scotland's first swimming pools to a focus on energy efficiency: heating and hot water is powered by biomass, Arran's first electric car charge point was added in 2013, and they have excellent facilities for cyclists. Open all year, arrive for dinner before 6pm for a 20 per cent discount on the bill.
