Perched above the fishing village of Lochinver, in the unique landscape of Assynt, Inver Lodge Hotel is the setting for one of Albert Roux’s three Scottish restaurants. The dining room is decked out in classic lodge style and, with stunning views across the surrounding landscape, window tables are in high demand. The restaurant focuses on French country-style cooking, taking advantage of the meat, fish and game found in this area and across the Highlands. Albert Roux’s signature soufflé Suissesse is a highlight of the starters, while mains like monkfish pithivier and braised pork belly with choucroute underline the French influence in this small corner of Sutherland. On the more informal bar menu, a 32-day aged ribeye steak sits proudly alongside tempura of west coast fish and chips, as well as fish pie, sausages and burgers all hailing from the local surroundings. The bar is also the place to head for an indulgent afternoon tea or just a scone and a cuppa.
