Takeaway review
Unlike so many run-of-the-mill establishments, Curry Leaf makes a real effort at inventiveness and style. Flavours are fresh, herbs are plentiful, and even the old favourites step outside standard expectations. Particular stand-outs include the gosh kebab saslik: the lamb, unusually, still pink, set off by a fresh salad featuring paw-paw and cooling mint raita. The sabz chilli dahl brings very fresh green vegetables together with tender lentils and cumin, and while it is a little on the hot side, it is the balance of spices that makes it a winner. The bhindi bhajee is firmer than the norm, the okra cooked to a delightful al-dente consistency instead of the gluey squelch which many restaurants make of this misunderstood vegetable.
