Eating & Drinking Guide

The 2016 edition of The List's Eating & Drinking Guide is out now – only £5.95 (+p&p).

This review is taken from the 2010 edition.

The Potting Shed café and restaurant is hidden away in the walled gardens of Applecross House. The owners describe themselves as a bunch of 'bumpkins' who take nothing seriously, except when it comes to food. Fruit and vegetables are grown right there in the garden and shellfish is brought back in their boat. Free range eggs and wild mushrooms are also locally sourced, making for an altogether unpretentious, relaxing foodie treat.

The Potting Shed café and restaurant is hidden away in the walled gardens of Applecross House, surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests, and with the Inner Sound of Raasay just a stone’s throw away. The owners describe themselves as a bunch of 'bumpkins' who take nothing seriously, except when it comes to food. Fruit and vegetables are grown right there in the garden and shellfish is brought back in their boat. Free-range eggs and wild mushrooms are also locally sourced, making for an altogether unpretentious, relaxing foodie treat. Kids are safe to wander and play in the couple of acres of garden, and some peaceful circular walks begin at the car park.
